Indian Idol 5 – Disco special and Shivam elimination!

Mithun Chakroborthy Gun masterIndian Idol is entering into the last stages of the competition and the contestant to get axed was Sunidhi’s favorite jerry mouse Shivam. With tears filled eyes, all that Sunidhi could tell was how sad she was feeling for him, but deep down inside she might have also been cursing herself and the judges for using that veto power in the last episode to save Rakesh 🙂

Indian Idol now has their final 4, that features “Telugu singing star” Sreeram from Hyderabad, a man who only sung for at jagrans but not called the romantic voice of Indian Idol 5 – Rakesh, A folk singer who from a less known village of Rajasthan who hardly ever heard any movie song – Swaroop Khan, and the good looking “Garba Girl” from Gujarat – Bhoomi Trivedi!

The Veto Power – The power to save any one contestant from elimination was put to use by the judges in the last elimination episode to save Rakesh, in what was an episode filled with all the drama and masala there can be. Nothing surprising na? The person who however had to go down under the axe turned out to be the singer who the judges thought was Sreeram’s competition, the young man from central part of India, the 20 year old Shivam Pathak.

The judges were in a state of shock announcing the elimination, but i hope they did ask themselves if they made the right choice with Vito? I wonder who the judges would have picked if they were given an option to save either Shivam or Rakesh? How many times have you made a choice that you have regretted later? It happens to everybody, and the judges just happened to know it last night!

Shivam is a good singer, and his elimination wasn’t justified. Again, he’s just a contestant who has fallen victim to a faulty system! How many of you think the vito power episode was scripted? I think so. Why? Because I have a feeling that the judges would have saved any contestant who was being eliminated on that day. It had to be called a non elimination episode, only with a dramatic effect with the veto power.

Well, I could be wrong, but what if Sreeram was eliminated instead of Shivam last night? All I’m trying to say is veto must be used to save only the best 🙂 But everyone has their own opinion and the judges should have evaluated their options before making the decision.

All fingers again point to the voting process. Will it change from next season? Only time could tell.

This week’s gala saw a special guest by the name of Krishnan Aiyar M.A a.k.a Gun master G9 a.k.a Grandmaster of DID a.k.a India’s first disco star a.k.a Mithun Chakrobarthy. The episode was just one of the best; every single contestant had a beautiful song to sing because of which the entertainment factor just sky rocketed! It’s so wonderful to be singing those old songs isn’t it? It’s simple, classic and just rocking! They don’t make such songs anymore. The songs that you could easily sing, and the uncomplicated lyrics, wow!

Sreeram sings “Apni to Jaise Taise”, one more amazing performance! It so easy to sing along to this song, Loving it 🙂

Bappi Lahiri may be taunted as a man who stole music from the west, but he did add Indian flavor to it and now is the Disco king of India! Every single song has that beautiful drum beat to it, the 50 man orchestra and everything, makes you want to dance! I hate Anu Malik’s music, especially the songs he lends his own voice to, but i Have to laud him for ‘Julie Julie’, one rocking song!

All in all, just another episode of what you can expect of Indian Idol. Drama, controversy and good entertainment factor!

Until next time

Yes it was sad to see poor Shivam go,given up after Shashi left.now anything is possible as who knows who votes and hat goes on behind the scenes.Rakesh falls on the ground and begs for mercy..the show is all f…..ed up and innocent good singers r wasted. As for Shreram he has already sung a playback song in a hyrebadi movie so he was already a proffesional singer and the judges know it so why should we get worked up….

Poor Shivam. But its not over for him. He’s going to have a very good future ahead and hope he turns out to be a very good playback singer if not let him come out with his own music album. I guess all the music directors are listening to these gems.

Hi Nitu, I bet they are. Shivam gets his training from a very popular music guru, Suresh Wadekar, with his support he definetely is going to make a huge mark in the music industry. This was just his chance at winning a huge prize in money but the experience of becoming known among a 120 crore audience is more than he would have bargained for!
