Indian Idol 5 – We have the top 5..
You knew this was coming didn’t you? Indian Idol now has the final five contestants who will be battling it out for just a few more weeks before the winner takes away a grand prize of 50 lacs, a singing contract with a famous music company and more importantly the title of Indian Idol! Tia finished at no.6 in what was a decent road to stardom for a teenage girl. Yes, Tia was finally eliminated. The sad part was that it had to happen on her birthday…
Monday’s gala episode saw Anu Malik and Salim Merchant engage in yet another battle, only this time it was with the contestants who were divided into groups each headed by the judges… Wonder why the makers of the show couldn’t give each one their own special episode? May be Anu Malik hasn’t had more than 3 famous songs in his career 😀
Sunidh Chauhan was joined as guest judge by Salim’s older brother, and the remaining half of the music composer’s duo of Salim-Suleman, Suleman. Rajasthan Royals cricketers, including the star batsman Yusuf Pathan were seen taking sides. Do they get paid, or do they pay the makers for a guest appearance so that the people don’t forget tham? What followed were super boring parts of the episode which I chose to skip.
First up was a battle between the most prospective Indian Idol stars, Shivam for Anu Malik and Sreeram for Salim. Sreeram in his usual self gave yet another speechless performance, while Shivam managed to only get one point less than Sreeram.
The second battle ensued between Salim’s team member Tia who looked quite confident of a good performance, and Gujrathi dhokli Bhoomi. Sunidhi wasn’t really impressed with any of their performances and marked them low. Tia just one point behind Bhoomi at 5.
The third battle was I guess the most closely fought. Representing Salim’s team, Swaroop presented another one of his classic Indian folk styles (which I guess is what is keeping him safe in the competition). Rakesh from Anu Malik’s team however stole the show and the Best performance of the day prize with his romantic number… All in all a great day for music minus the cricketers!
The contestant dedicated a song each to anybody they liked, and Tia dedicated it to her father who was also present in the studio audience. The judges and the hosts surprised Tia with a birthday party on the stage, but what followed was only a sad result. Tia was in the bottom three. Giving her Company were Shivam, who despite giving Sreeram the toughest competition finds himself at the bottom everytime, and Bhoomi who for the first time saw the face of bottom 3. Bhoomi finished No.4, and Shivam at no.5.
Tia must be feeling sad, but it was inevitable. Tia, I’m really sorry, but guess your supporters just couldn’t see much improvement in your performance despite saving you so many times from elimination. Hope you take it in the true spirit and continue to learn music with the same passion, make a come back just to keep the supporters who votes for you, happy!
Until next time..
