ICC Champions Trophy 2009 – Round Up

ICC Chamions Trophy LogoIndia and Gary Kirsten made news last evening! No, not for showing the middle finger to a journalist, certainly not for going out shopping during practice hours, and definitely not for not attending the Khel Ratna award ceremony. Only this time the news was sensational, vitamins to the Indian Media. Guru Gary Kirsten published a  four part document in a local news paper suggesting Indian Cricketers to have a sex boost to improve performance. More details follow..

In other news, Yuvraj Singh will return home after injuring his right index finger during a training session. Virat Kohli has been calle din as a replacement, which the ICC technical committee has approved. Injury laden (recovered?) Gautam Gambhir will be the vice captain until Yuvraj’s recovery. The stylish batsmen is advised to rest for 6 weeks before he could start training again. Perhaps work more in his sex life! 😛
The science part is well explained in the document which was jointly published by coach Gary Kirsten and a mental conditioning expert Paddy Upton. “From a psychological (body) perspective having sex increases testosterone levels, which causes in an increase in strength, energy, aggression and competitiveness. Conversely, not having sex for a few months causes a significant drop in testosterone level in both males and females with the corresponding passiveness and decrease in aggression,” the document said.

The Indian cricketers when asked about their reactions on it, left us with no comments, however the English captain Andrew Strauss and Aussy captain Ponting were put in spot by the Indian journalists during the pre-match conference. “The team vision document would be interesting. No, I don’t think it would (be there in ours). That’s all I can say. You caught off-guard with that question. Next question please.” said Ponting with a smile on his face. Strauss through answered the question without any change in facial expressions:  “With regards to sexual habits, I don’t think that has come up in any of our dossiers. Not sure if it is likely to either, for us. I don’t know.”

“(Acid in the body) causes the body to turn calories into fat, lowers the body’s ability to deliver oxygen to the working cells, and can also cause day time fatigue, irritability, low brain functioning, over-sexuality, anxiety, diarrhea, joint pain and difficulty sleeping at night,” The document also suggested the players to go out all single when they cant find a partner. Interestingly, Indians were never known for being aggressive on the field, is this one reason? hmmm.. But really thanks to Gary we finally had something to smile about! More importantly this presented me an opportunity to blog!

Yuvraj Singh’s absence
With the star batsmen Virender See-Whack already missing from the squad due to a shoulder injury, The loss of Yuvraj Singh could leave a dent in the batting poweress that India is known for. All the pressure will be back on the master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. The middle order all of a sudden seems weak with Raina not in the best of forms and Dhoni missing his shot hitting skills.. Yusuf Pathan’s form is also questionable.. India play their first match against Pakistan on the 26th of September.

Pakistan having won their first match against West Indies are high on confidence. Captain Younis Khan, Mohammed Asif who completed his ban of 5 years for a failed dope test a few days ago will be ready to play India in the next match. An exciting contest between bat and ball is expected on a lively Centurion pitch.

Sex or not, Questions about Gautam’s injury have been cleared as he has been declared fit to play the next match, if he does not injure him again that is. Do comeback for more news, previews and reviews on matches in the champions trophy 2009.

    Hi Nihar,

I like the way you shortened Yuvraj further with the name UV 😛 Sachin is in good form, and so is Dravid, but the problem seriously is that we have no hitters left in the team. Testing times for Dhoni now!
