We are wasting Power!
LVS and I are having similar thoughts these days, and this one didn’t come as a surprise. Both of us were worried about how we are wasting electricity at office. We decided to take the initaitive and have decided to tweet it, specially because we have followers from the office. You can contribute too. Go here: #SavePower
As a matter of fact, The Tamilnadu electricity board (TNEB) is buying power from GMR (Private company) to aid the shortage. It’s bought at Rs. 7 per unit, to which domestic houses pay about a rupee a unit and the commercial factories a little higher. In any case, the government loses about Rs.5 per unit of power we waste.
In other news, political drama has heightened between Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu for water. Andhra Pradesh have been reported to have illegally constructed a dam over some river that is causing shortage of water to Tamilnadu. Thanks to the news, I was able to convince my family into saving more water.
News about depleting natural resources is not new. You must have heard of all the fuel drying out by 2012, What the environmentalist actually mean is that there will not be cheap fuel. By cheap fuel i mean subsidized fuel. The same goes with electricity, the government is able to subsidize it to one rupee for a Rs. 7 per unit it pays. There will be a day when they will put it completely on our heads! So stop complaining of rising prices, Instead conserve more so that you can use it in future.
