My 100th Post: A feeling of Pride
I started this blog as a mere requirement given by one of my trainers at the current company to understand basic web designing. The project was complete and the blog occupied space with no real reason.
In about 2 years, kunaljanu@wordpress has drawn a broad audience which now fetches an average of 300 page views, 90 percent of which are unique visitors, The blog now has about 20 active subscribers with close to 11k page impressions, which is not a good number but significant considering that the blog is more personal than general. Participation in the conversations prompted by the blog is the key to the value of the blog and I am pleased and appreciative of the contribution from all of those that have posted – a total of over 400 comments that have been made on over 100 posts.
I personally enjoy writing about whatever comes to my mind and so perhaps this blog may seem a bit random, but that is how I am. I want to share my life experiences with others and my blog is sending out my voice to be heard and I find that quite satisfying. Personally this would not have been possible without inspiration and appreciation from fellow bloggers. To name a few, LVS, Restless Princess (Shilpa), Ambika and others, every single one is linked on the side.
Shilpa for getting me into this habit of posting regularly, and if I’m this far, it’ s her. Ambika for commenting on anything and everything, If there are 400 + comments at least 40 percent of them are courtesy Ambika.
It’s been a wonderful ride so far and hope it’s been the same for you.
I’m so much into Cricket that i still feel sad about the fact that i couldn’t grow into a cricketer.. That’s when i realized that I’m actually losing that feeling as i write a post on Cricket. I wish to be a journalist traveling with the Cricket team around the world, but as luck has it I’m an engineer. In a way this blog is fulfilling that childhood dream because people are reading what I write, and I am publishing anything I want. Picking out favorites on this topic is going to be quite difficult as appreciation on these blogs based in-the-form-of-comments is quite less.. Apparently, I call every Cricket blog as a ‘quick’ blog.. It comes to me naturally; I’m able to write and publish it in just about an hour..
Use them wisely
Here are some of the keywords user’s used to get to my blog:
Apparently, somebody has been looking for Love online. This I Love You image seems like the most liked on the internet. I picked it because it had that message. There have been over 100 downloads of this image by different users.
Some of the other popular keywords have been:
Confusion: I understand this happening to me, but glad to know i have million other people who look for confusion on the internet.
Most visited: Making Decisions
Mahatma Gandhi: I hope everybody realizes the importance of this man and appreciates every single minute he spent in our country. He for now has fetched me over 500 page views.
Most Visited: October 2nd – Celebrating Gandhi Jayanthi
Tata Sky: I think i don’t have to be talking about this one. For people who are seeing the blog for the first time, Read the most visited post. It’s one of the most commented post on this blog. Looks like, every unhappy TataSky customer is looking for a place to crib!
Most Visited: Another Bad Experience with TataSky – No More cheers
This post is still and by far the most visited on this blog. I try keeping an update on this one, but these days i have stopped cribbing about it. I think I’ll start another blog specially for TataSky.
Frieda Pinto: Not for long has she been on my blog. She was just a post worth, but thanks to that I’m getting a lot of traffic.
You’ll find her here: SlumDog Millionaire, Was it worth 8?
Every single day, there are atleast 10 searches on her name that bring me traffic. I love this girl, Not her bold ‘bare-it-all’ attitude, but the name 😛
Cricket: Just about anything to with Cricket makes it to this blog, No specific post with maximum page views. Go through some achieves to read some blogs on cricket.
The keywords shown in the sample are just what i got in the last week, There have been bigger peaks in readership in the past but wordpress does not have statistical information for any other than the last week or month may be. Here is a graph indicating the Number of page views from the day the blog was started:
Some more information
As a part of it’s 100th Anniversary, I want to make some changes to the blog, at least the look and feel of it. I personally like the colors and the way everything is arranged but there have been recommendations for a change. A change may be required, It needs some more attraction and recognition. I was thinking of a title change, “My Ways of Expressing Myself” does not sound professional.. I welcome ideas and if you find it too difficult to comment, Send me an email; Feedback’s are always welcome. An exclusive post will be for the person who’s title i will choose to use. 😛 Recommendations are also welcome for the kind of widgets and color schemes you want to see.
You can use the following images with underlined code to recommend my blog as a read to your readers. I’m sure this will bring more traffic into my blog, and if i maintain the quality of the content I’ll be able to reatin some of the readers.
For a bigger image use the following code:
I have been able to generate a revenue of $0.45 courtesy google ad-sense whose ad’s i have displayed on a old ‘blogger’ blog which i rarely update. With over 11k page views I could have earned an amount well over $50 only if wordpress allowed ad’s.
I didn’t start a blog to make money, it was just something that i picked up along the way.. So no complaining.. But now, I plan to earn something out of it. If not money, at least a reputation 😛 If there is somebody out there interested to have an ad added to my blog, Please contact me personally, Prices are negotiable 😛
Hehe….Jokes apart…. I have enjoyed enormously writing every one of these 100 and I look forward to writing the next one just as a much as the last. There are times when the brain dries up, but with things in a sort of mess blogging helps getting it organized. Thanks to all of those who have followed this blog from the start and to those who may be finding this for the first time – please stay and join the conversation.
PS: I’m sure you would have noticed something along the way, If you haven’t this post is my 108th post. It’s just that 100th post gives me a better footprint on some search engines, I decdided to go with this title. This post had been waiting in my drafts for quite a while before i decided to publish it.
In other Updates: I have not found anybody to replace my Love for Television. Anyone interested? I’m open to all 😛
