The new look IRCTC website is good. The new rules for booking tickets under the tatkal quota is excellent and one that was requested for a very long time. Keeping out booking agents until a specific was even more exciting. For once, normal people like me were able to get tickets when needed. IRCTC scored a lot of brownie points over the last two months.

While there are more good things to talk about, there are some things that we cannot neglect. Read more…

Income Tax Email Subject

Income Tax Government of India emailed me last evening. I assumed this email was a confirmation for the refund I received earlier this year, but no, this was about giving me more, an excess refund of Rs. 36,120.25 accumulated as Tax excess.

It’s been a while since I’ve not updated the blog. A lot of reasons, a lot of things to write about and really, a lot of boredom! There are a hundred things I want to write about; I’m only going to stick to a few to get that rhythm going. On the menu: India’s tour of England, Mobile Store with Citi Bank customer service review, My favourite Credit Card, and just some thought on personality development.

First, India’s disaster tour against England! Read more…

Customer Service – yatra.com

http://i52.tinypic.com/29hhd3.jpgThe case of “Paid Meal”

I had booked kingfisher flight tickets from Mumbai to Chennai on yatra.com, and being the researcher that I am; I looked at a number of websites for fare options, including flykingfisher (offered me the lowest price, Rs.14 lower than the lowest online price on yatra.com for that particular flight only).

Despite the lower price, I booked with yatra because they had a “Paid Meal” on the flight. When kingfisher said there are no free meals, yatra had the flights marked with “Paid Meal” Read more…

http://i53.tinypic.com/2ez1u10.jpgIf you own a company and want to test your customer service rating, give me your product. I’ve had to fight, quarrel, threaten and sweet talk so many customer service executives of different companies to earn this status! Yes, I know how to deal with you guys, or do I?

You might say that I’m never satisfied, but the truth is that I take a stand only when I feel that I have not been offered a product that is value for money. There are many instances in the blog already to read about, this one is to highlight the ones that have not made it here…

The IT industry and the HR department

July 12, 2011 Leave a comment

Today, I want to talk to you about the IT industry. The Indian industry, it’s huge. Every year India produces thousands of engineers, 50 percent or more join the IT league. There are a number of jobs on offer, and the pay is good. Rarely do they pick this by choice. At the end of it all, they are happy, and life is well.

Indian software engineers, 90 percent of them, are people who will accept whatever is offered to them, both in terms of pay and the amount of work, sometimes even the technology to work with. Companies hire people who are flexible to learn new technologies, and somehow manage (use Google?) to do what is required. The role of recruitment managers therefore becomes very crucial in an Indian IT company, because they are people who convince you enough to take the new job even if you don’t like it. Read more…

Marriage brings many changes to your life, your time is not yours alone.

With marriage come it’s own marital blues.. You are put up in this world where you cannot think of anything but wanting to be with each other. Mondays seem like Friday and the time stops. It’s hard to concentrate on something for a long time without having a different thought. I’m just about starting to come out of it.. and having my mind back in control, I do want to share my thoughts on some news headlines that I would have normally written about. Read more…

It’s an intresting life after all

June 28, 2011 Leave a comment

For everyone who cares, My life is on a steady path. Yes! I’m married two months now! A happy man!

Ruchi is wonderful, amazing, beautiful, and like an angel. She’s brought changes in my life that I truly appreciate and like! Being married is good, being married for a long time? Only time will tell, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be a happy man despite a few bruises here and there.. Just the way happy marriages are supposed to be right?

So I got engaged in December of 2010 and married in may 2011, which pretty much explains my absence from writing stuff here.. and now with additional responsibility of my wife, I really have no time to even blink an eyelid. Also, thanks to the additional work I have started of an (assistant) project manager. I’m only learning it by experience, and from immediate managers, I’m not an MBA! I don’ have the title yet, but it is what will define me in an year. Read more…
